Surface Preparation:
- Remove any dirt, oil and wood dust from the surface.
- Apply Acrylic Filling Paste on nailheads, joint points, capillary cracks & depths below 3 mm.
New Wood Surfaces:
- Sand the surface with sandpaper #80/120. Thoroughly clean the generated dust.
Old Uncoated Wood Surfaces:
- Sand the weathered surface with sandpaper #80/120. Thoroughly clean the generated dust.
- Coated Wood Surfaces:
- Do not apply the product directly on pre-coated surfaces. Remove the old paint/varnish from the surface completely with a sandpaper. Thoroughly clean the generated dust.
The application of Aqua Universal Primer is recommended before Breather Paint, having the function of a barrier and preventing the yellowing of the last coat stain particularly at exotic and resin containing woods. If not, the surface of wood containing resins and natural oils should be cleaned with a cloth soaked in cellulosic thinner and dried out before the application.
Application:
- The product is ready to use and does not require thinning.
- Stir the product thoroughly before use and check its homogeneity. Repeat this process during the application.
- Apply the product in 2 coats by brush and wait 24 hours between coats.
- Perform a slight sanding with sandpaper #180/220 between coats.
- Wait 24 hours for complete dry.
Maintenance (when the same product had been used before):
- Do not apply the product directly on pre-coated surfaces.
- Clean the wood surface completely from dirt and oil and perform a slight sanding.
- Thoroughly clean the generated dust.
- Repeat same process as described in “Application” with 1 or 2 coats depending on weathering.
- Inspect annually and maintain as required.
Instructions:
- FOR EXTERIOR USE ONLY. NOT SUITABLE FOR FLOORINGS.
- Keep product closed when not in use. The general application temperature of the product is between 15oC to 25oC at a relative humidity range of 40-65%.
- The moisture content of the wood should be max. 20%.
- Do not apply the product under direct sunlight or rain.
- Do not apply linseed oil, yacht varnish before or after Breather Paint applied surfaces.
- To provide a long lifetime protection against decay, apply Timbercare Aqua on untreated softwoods and wait 24 hours before applying Breather Paint.
- The product should be stored at temperatures between 5°C to 35°C.
- Painting tools should be cleaned with mineral spirits after the application.
Safety Precautions:
- USE WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION.
- KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
- Do not transfer contents to other containers for storage.
- Do not use empty cans for other purposes.
- To avoid overexposure, open windows and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application and drying.
- Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
- Wash hands after using.
- FIRST AID: In case of eye contact, flush thoroughly with large amounts of water. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If swallowed, call Poison Control Center, hospital emergency room, or physician immediately.
- Dispose of contents/cans in accordance with national regulations.
